History

The Lumina Carol Competition holds a unique place in the Illawarra region as the only live carol competition, uniting the community in a celebration of music, faith, and festivity. Since its inception in 2018, the event has become a cherished tradition, bringing together choirs, performers, and audiences from diverse backgrounds to share the joy of Christmas.

 A Humble Beginning

The competition began as an initiative to showcase and nurture musical talent within the Illawarra community while embracing the spirit of Christmas. Organised to foster unity and goodwill, the first Lumina Carol Competition in 2018 saw enthusiastic participation from local choirs and overwhelming support from the community.

Over the years, Lumina has become more than just a competition. It is a celebration of tradition, creativity, and community spirit, offering a platform for both seasoned and budding performers to showcase their talents.
